I am as the Divine created me. I am Its Child eternally.

Today we continue with the one Idea that brings complete awakening; the one statement that makes all forms of the temptation to miscreate, mis-project and misperceive powerless; the one Thought that renders the ego silent and entirely undone.

You are as the Divine created you.

The sounds of this world are still, the sights of this world disappear, and all the thoughts that this world ever held are wiped away forever by this one Idea. Here is awakening accomplished. Here is Sanity restored.

True Light is Strength, and Strength is Innocence. If you remain as the Divine created you, you must be strong, and Light must be in you. That Which created you perfect must be the Guarantee of Strength and Light as well.

You are as the Divine created you.

Darkness cannot obscure the Glory of the Children of the Divine. You stand in Light, strong in the Innocence in which you were created, and in which you will remain throughout Eternity.

Today we will again devote the first five minutes of each waking hour to the attempt to feel the Truth in you. Begin these times of searching with these words:

“I am as the Divine created me. I am Its Child eternally.”

Now try to reach the Child of the Divine in you. This is the Self that never believed it could sin, nor made an image to replace Reality. This is the Self that never left Its Home in the Divine, to walk the world uncertainly. This is the Self that knows no fear, nor could conceive of loss or suffering or death.

Nothing is required of you to achieve today’s goal except to lay all idols and self-images aside, go past the long list of attributes, both “good” and “bad,” you have ascribed to yourself, and wait in silent expectancy for the Truth. The Divine Itself has promised that the Answer will be revealed to all who ask for It. You are asking now. You will not fail because It cannot fail.

If you are not able to practice today’s idea the first five minutes of an hour, at least remind yourself that hour:

“I am as the Divine created me. I am Its Child eternally.”

Tell yourself frequently today that you are as the Divine created you. And be sure to respond with these words to anyone who seems to irritate or offend you:

“You are as the Divine created You. You are Its Child eternally.”

Make every effort to do the hourly exercises today. Each one you do will be a giant stride toward your Release, and a milestone in learning the thought system that this Course sets forth.

4. The Holy Spirit’s Response to Dreams

Like any good teacher, the Holy Spirit knows more than you know now, but It teaches only to make you equals. You are not equals now because you do not yet believe in your own Perfection, and therefore have believed what is not true, and have wrongly taught this. How could the Divine teach you that you had made a split mind when It knows your mind only as whole? Only Its Answer – Its Voice – could bridge this impossible gap.

The Divine knows that some of Its Communication Channels, in a dream, are not completely open to It, that It cannot therefore impart Its Joy completely, and because of this that some of Its Children are not wholly joyous. Communication is a continuous, ongoing, and never-ending process, not in time but in Eternity. The Divine’s Extension Everywhere without limit, though not Its Completeness, is blocked when any Member of the Divine Family does not communicate with their Creator as One. When this occurred, the Divine’s Thought was, “Some of my Children sleep, and must be awakened.”

How can you wake children better and more kindly than with a gentle voice that will not frighten them, but will merely remind them that the night is over and the light has come? You do not inform them that the nightmares that frightened them so badly were not real, because children believe in fairy tale “magic.” You merely reassure them that they are safe now. Then you teach them to recognize the difference between sleeping and waking, so that they will understand they need not be afraid of dreams. Then when bad dreams come, they will call on the light themselves to dispel them.

Wise teachers teach through approach rather than avoidance. They do not emphasize what must be avoided to escape from harm as much as what needs to be learned to have joy. This is true of the world’s teachers as well as of the Holy Spirit. Consider the confusion that a child would experience if they were told, “Do not do that because it might make you unsafe and even hurt you, but if you do this you will escape from harm and be safe, and then you will not be afraid.” All of this could be included in only three words: “Do only this.” That simple statement is perfectly clear, easily understood, and very easily remembered.

The Holy Spirit never itemizes errors, because It does not frighten children, and those who lack wisdom are yet children in awakening. But It always answers their call, and Its Dependability makes those It teaches more certain. Children confuse fantasy and reality, and are frightened because they do not know the difference.

The Holy Spirit makes no distinction among dreams, but merely shines them all away in the final happy dream of forgiveness and awakening. Its Light is always the Call to awaken, whatever you may have been dreaming. Dreams contain nothing eternal, and the Holy Spirit, shining with the Light from the Divine Itself, speaks only for what lasts forever. When your body and your ego and your dreams are gone, you will know that you are forever. Many think that this is accomplished through death, but nothing is accomplished through death because death is nothing. Everything is accomplished through Life, and Life is of and in the whole mind. The body neither lives nor dies in truth, because it cannot contain you who are Life. When you and I share the same Mind completely, you will overcome death because and like I did. Death is an attempt to resolve conflict by not willing at all. Like any other impossible solution that the ego attempts, it will not work.

The Divine did not make the body because the body is destructible, and therefore not of the Realm of Heaven. Yet the body has become the symbol of what you think you are. It is clearly a separation device, and therefore does not exist. The Holy Spirit, as always, takes what you have made and translates it into a learning device for you. Again, as always, Spirit reinterprets what the ego uses as an argument for separation into an Understanding that resolves all argument.

If the healed mind removes all infirmity from the body, but the body cannot heal the mind, then the mind must be stronger. Every miracle demonstrates this. This Course has stated that the Holy Spirit is the Motivation for miracle-mindedness. This is because It always teaches you that only the whole mind is real, because only the whole mind and its true Thoughts can be shared. The body is separate and therefore cannot be part of you and cannot be shared. To be of one body is meaningless, but to be of one Mind contains all Meaning. By the laws and in the context of mind, then, the body is meaningless.

The Holy Spirit’s Response to dreams, which is Its Teaching, is expressed in the following three steps of undoing or atoning, leading out of the dream of this world.
