Review Lessons 77 and 78

These are our review ideas for today:

Lesson 77. Miracles are part of my Divine Inheritance.

Miracles are my Inheritance because I am held only within the gentle Laws of the Divine. The Divine’s Laws release me from all resentment, grievances, grudges and offenses, and replace them with miracles. And I would accept the miracles in place of all my dark shields, which are only illusions that hide the miracles beyond. Now I would accept only what the Divine’s Laws give as my Inheritance, that I may use It on behalf of the function the Divine has given me here.

You might use these suggestions for specific applications of this idea:

“Behind this appearance is a miracle that is part of my Divine Inheritance.”

“Let me not take offense or hold grudges, grievances or resentment against you (name), but offer you the miracle that belongs to you instead.”

“Perceived truly, this (situation, person, experience) offers me a miracle.”

Lesson 78. Let miracles replace all resentment, grievances, grudges and feelings of being offended.

By this idea do I unite my will with the Divine’s, and perceive them as One. By this idea do I accept my Release from nightmares. By this idea do I express my willingness to have all my illusions be replaced with Truth, according to the Divine’s Plan for my awakening. I would make no exceptions and no substitutes. I want all of Heaven and only Heaven, as the Divine wills me to have.

Useful specific forms for applying this idea would be:

“I would not hold this grudge, grievance, resentment or feeling of being offended apart from my awakening.”

“Let our resentment, grievances, grudges and feelings of being offended be replaced by miracles, (name).”

“Beyond this appearance is the miracle by which my dark shields are replaced.”

9. Redirecting Misplaced Faith

The relationship of anger to attack is obvious, but the inevitable association of anger and fear is not always so clear. Anger always involves projection of separation and the fear underlying this, which must ultimately be accepted as entirely one’s own responsibility. Anger cannot occur unless a person believes that they have been attacked, that their counterattack of anger is justified, and that they are in no way responsible for it. Given these three wholly irrational premises, the equally irrational conclusion that a brother or sister deserves attack rather than Love follows. What can be expected from irrational premises except an irrational conclusion?

The way to undo a conclusion lacking sanity is always to consider the sanity of the premises on which it rests. In reality, you cannot be attacked, therefore counterattack, or anger, has no justification, and you are responsible for what you believe.

Everyone must have a thought system to organize their life. Once a person has developed a thought system of any kind, they live by it and therefore teach it. Everyone teaches, and teaches all the time, through how they organize their life according to their thought system, and through the choices they make based on this. Responsibility for this fact is something that each must inevitably assume the moment they have accepted any premises at all.

I have suggested that you take me as a model for learning awakening, and also that an extreme example can be a particularly helpful learning device. You have been invited to teach the Atonement with me precisely because your allegiance to your thought system has developed in you the capacity for allegiance. Even if this allegiance has been misplaced, it is still a form of faith, which you have now become willing to redirect. You will not doubt the strength of your devotion when you consider how faithfully you have observed it. It is quite evident that you have already developed the ability to follow a better model, if you are willing to accept it.
