Review Lessons 63 and 64

We will review these ideas today:

 

Lesson 63. The Light of the world brings Peace to every mind through my forgiveness.

My forgiveness is the Means by which I become aware of the Light of the world in me. My forgiveness is the Means by which the Light of the world finds expression through me. My forgiveness is the Means by which the world is healed, together with myself. Let me, then, forgive my sisters and brothers, myself, and the world that we may be healed together.

Suggestions for specific forms for applying this idea are:

“Let Peace extend from my mind to yours, (name).”

“I share the Light of the world with you, (name).”

“Through my forgiveness I can see this appearance as it is.”

 

Lesson 64. Let me remember and fulfill my function of forgiveness.

I would remember my function of forgiveness because I would remember my holy Self. I cannot fulfill my function unless I remember It. And unless I fulfill my function, I will not experience the Joy that the Divine intends for me.

Suitable specific forms of this idea include:

“Let me use this (situation, person, experience) to remember my function here.”

“I would use this (situation, person, experience) as an opportunity to fulfill my function of forgiveness.”

“This (situation, person, experience) may threaten or upset my ego, but cannot change my function in any way.”

Chapter 5: Understanding the Holy Spirit’s Purpose

 

2. Attributes of the Holy Spirit and of True Perception

The Holy Spirit is the Mind of the Atonement. It represents a State of mind that comes close enough to One-Mindedness that transfer to It is at last possible. Transfer, in terms of the mind, depends on there being elements in common between the previous and the new situation to which the previous is being transferred. Perception is not Knowledge, but in its purest state it can be transferred to Knowledge, or cross over into It. It might even be more helpful here to use the literal meaning “carried over,” for the last step in this transfer is taken by the Divine.

The Holy Spirit, the shared Inspiration of Creation or the Divine Family, induces a kind of perception in which many elements are like those in the Realm of Heaven Itself.

First, the universality of this kind of perception is perfectly clear, and no one who receives it could ever believe for one instant that sharing it involves anything other than gain.

Second, this kind of perception is incapable of attack, and is therefore truly open. This means that although it does not engender Knowledge, as that is something no perception can do because perception is by definition dualistic and Knowledge is One, it does not obstruct Knowledge in any way.

Third, this kind of perception is an unequivocal call to Love. When it is present every other voice is still.

Finally, this kind of perception points the way beyond the healing that it brings, and leads the mind beyond its own integration into the Paths of Creation.

This element requires real understanding because it is the point at which sufficient quantitative changes produce real qualitative differences, and subsequently the point at which the shift from perception to Knowledge occurs.

Let us recall that healing is not creating, it is reparation. The Holy Spirit promotes healing by seeing beyond it to what the Children of the Divine were before healing was needed, and will be when they have been healed. This alteration of the time sequence may sound quite familiar because it is very similar to the shift in the perception of time that the miracle introduces.

The Holy Spirit is the Motivation for miracle-mindedness. Spirit is the will to heal the separation by letting go of it. This Motivation to let the separation go is in you because Spirit placed It in your mind, and although you can keep It asleep you cannot obliterate It. The Divine Itself keeps It alive by transmitting It from Its Mind to yours as long as time exists. It is therefore composed of both the Divine Will and yours as One. The miracle itself is just this Union of Will between Creator and Creation.

The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Joy. It is the Call to Return to the Realm of Heaven, the Divine Home. The Divine blessed the minds of the separated ones with this Call. This Return is the true vocation of the mind while it is yet in the process of coming Home. The mind had no calling until the separation, because before that it had only being, and would not have understood the call to right thinking or to anything else.

The Holy Spirit is the Divine’s Answer to the separation, the Means by which the Atonement heals until the whole mind returns to creating. The separation and the Atonement began at the same instant. When the human being made the ego, at that instant the Divine placed in them the Call of Joy. This Call is so strong that the ego always dissolves at Its Sound. That is why there are two voices within you that you can choose to listen to. One you made yourself in your confusion, and that one is not of the Divine. But the other is given you by the Divine, Who asks only that you give It a listen, knowing that when you truly do, you will remember your true Home and your journey of awakening will begin.

The Holy Spirit is in you in a very literal sense. It is the Voice that calls you home to where you were before and will be again. It is possible even in this world to hear only this Voice and no other, and to accept only this Call and no other. This takes effort and great willingness to learn. It is the final lesson that I learned, and the Children of the Divine are as equal as learners as they are as spirits.

The Voice of the Holy Spirit is the Call to Atonement, or the Restoration of the Integrity of the mind. When the Atonement is complete in time and the whole Divine Family is healed, there will be no further need for a Call to Return, yet what the Divine creates is eternal, including the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit will remain forever with the Children of the Divine to bless their creations and keep them in the Light of Joy.

You are the Realm of Heaven, but you allowed a thought of darkness to enter your mind, and so you need rebirth in Light. The Holy Spirit is the Radiance that you must allow to banish the idea of darkness. Spirit’s is the Glory before which dissociation falls away, and the Realm of Heaven breaks through into Its Own.
