Chapter 30: The Happy Dreams of the Real World
2. The Spark that Shines within the Dream
Do not judge and reject your awakener because they think they are a body. Far beyond their dreams is their reality. But they must first learn they are an awakener before they can remember who they are in Reality. And they must awaken who would be awakened. An awakener’s happiness depends on their awakening those given them to awaken, and your awakener’s happiness depends on their awakening you. For who is an awakener except the one who gives awakening? Thus they learn it must be theirs to give. Unless they give, they will not know they have, for giving is the proof of having. Only those who think that the Divine is decreased by their Strength could fail to understand this must be so. For who could give unless they have to give, and who could lose by giving what must be increased thereby?
Think you the Creator lost Itself, or any Part of Itself, when It created you? Was It made weak because It shared Its Love? Was It made incomplete by your Perfection? Or is your and your sisters and brothers’ reality the Proof that the Divine is perfect and complete? Deny It not Its Witness in the dream Its Children preferred to their reality in a moment of madness so long ago as time is reckoned. Its Children must be their awakeners from the dream they made, that they be free of it. They must see someone else as not a body, as One with them without the wall the world has built to keep apart all living things who thus know not that they have unending Life.
Within the dream of bodies and of death is yet one Theme of Truth, no more, perhaps, than just a tiny Spark, a Space of Light created in the dark, where the Divine shines still:
You cannot awaken yourself, but you can let yourself be awakened. You can see beyond your sisters and brothers’ dreams. So perfectly can you forgive them their illusions that they become your awakeners from your dreams.
And as you behold them shining in the Space of Light where the Divine abides within the darkness, you will see that the Divine Itself is where their bodies were believed to be. Before this Light the body disappears, as heavy shadows must give way to light. The darkness cannot choose that it remain. The coming of Light means that darkness is gone. In Glory will you see your sisters and brothers then, and understand what really fills the gap so long perceived as keeping you apart. There, in its place, the Divine’s Witness has set forth the gentle Way of Kindness to the Divine’s Children. Whom you forgive is given Power to forgive you your illusions. By your gift of Freedom is It given unto you.
Make way for Love, Which you did not create but Which you can extend. On Earth this means to forgive your sisters and brothers so that the darkness may be lifted from your mind. When Light has come to them through your forgiveness, they will remember their awakener and you will not be left in dreams. For it was in your face they beheld the Light that they wanted to keep beside them as they walked through darkness to the everlasting Light.
How holy are you that the Children of the Divine can be your awakeners in the midst of dreams of desolation and disaster! See how eagerly they come and step aside from the heavy shadows that have hidden them, and shine on you with gratitude and love. They are now themselves, but not themselves alone. And as their Creator lost not Part of Itself in your creation, so the Light in them is brighter still because you gave your Light to them to awaken them from the dark. And now the Light in you must be as bright as shines in them.
This is the Spark that shines within the dream: that you can help your sisters and brothers awaken. And you can be sure that their awakening eyes will rest upon you first, and in their glad awakening you will be awakened.
