Daily Lesson 18 ~
January 18

I am joined by others in experiencing the effects of my perceiving.

The idea for today is another step toward learning that the thoughts that give rise to what you perceive are never neutral or unimportant. It also emphasizes the idea that minds are joined, a thought that will be given increasing importance as we progress.

Today’s idea does not refer to what you perceive as much as to how you perceive it. Therefore, the exercises for today will emphasize this aspect of your perception. Glancing about you for a minute or so or even less, randomly select subjects for the application of the idea. Look at each one long enough to say:

“I am joined by others in experiencing the effects of how I perceive _____.”

Conclude the practice period by repeating the more general statement:

“I am joined by others in experiencing the effects of my perceiving.”

Three or four practice periods are recommended for today’s idea.

Today’s idea may be applied during the day to remind yourself of the importance of your perceptions because you are joined in experiencing them.

Principle of Miracles 18

A miracle is the greatest service you can offer to another. It is a way of loving your sisters and brothers as yourself. Those who offer miracles recognize their own and their sisters and brothers’ inestimable Worth simultaneously.

Commentary

This is why you must let go of anything estranging you from another. If you feel estranged from anyone then your own value is no longer inestimable, because you are estimating it at most as infinite less the inestimable value of the one you feel estranged from. You cannot recognize the inestimable Worth of those you feel estranged from, and therefore cannot interact miraculously with them.
