Chapter 12: The Holy Spirit’s Course of Instruction

10. Reversing the Visible and the Invisible

Do you really believe that a Child of the Divine can die? For the Creator holds Its Children safely within Itself, and no harm can possibly threaten them. Therefore those who harbor harmful thoughts can know neither the Creator nor Its Children because of these thoughts. Those who hold such thoughts continuously oppose in their minds the Real World, and yet are surprised that they cannot see it. Those who seek Love in order to oppose It will never find It. For if Love is sharing, how can you find It except through Itself? Offer It and It will come to you, because It is drawn to Itself. But offer opposition and It will remain hidden to you, for It can live only in Peace.

The Divine’s Children are as safe as their Creator, for the Children know their Creator’s Protection and cannot fear. Their Creator’s Love holds them in perfect Peace, and, having Everything, they have no needs and ask for nothing. They disappear from the perception of this world into their Creator, far from the perception of those who choose to oppose, just as the holy Self of those who choose opposition and conflict will seem far from them. The Children of the Divine have not changed, but the minds of those who choose fear and opposition and conflict have. For a split mind and all its works were not created by the Creator, and cannot exist in the Presence of the Knowledge of the Divine.

When you made perceptible what is not true – fear – then what is true – Love – became invisible to you. Yet It cannot be invisible in Itself, for the Holy Spirit sees It with perfect Clarity. It has become invisible to you because you are perceiving something else. Yet it is no more up to you to decide what is visible and what is invisible than it is up to you to decide what Reality is. What can be seen is what the Holy Spirit sees. The Definition of Reality is the Divine’s, not yours. It created Reality, and It knows what Reality is. You who knew have forgotten. And unless the Divine had given you a Way to remember, you would have condemned yourself to oblivion.

Because of your Creator’s Love, you can never truly forget the Divine. For no one can forget what the Divine Itself placed in their memory. You can deny It, but you cannot lose It. A Voice will answer every real question you ask, and a true Vision will correct the perception of everything you look upon. For what you have made invisible is the only Truth in this world, and what you have not yet heard is the only Answer. For the Divine would reunite you with your Self and with Itself, and did not abandon you in your seeming distress. You have been waiting only for your holy Self, and did not know it. But Its Memory shines in your mind and cannot be obliterated. It is no more past than future, being always forever.

You need only ask for this Memory and you will remember. But the Memory of the Divine cannot shine in a mind that has made It invisible, and wants to keep It so. For the Memory of the Divine can dawn only in a mind that wills to remember, and that has relinquished the insane desire to control Reality. You who cannot even control yourself should hardly aspire to control the Universe. Just behold what you have made of the world you did make and tried to control, and rejoice that this world is not so.

Sisters and brothers, do not believe that you can be content with nothing, but know that you can only be content with Everything. What is not real can be looked upon but cannot be seen and has no Value. The Divine could not offer Its Children what has no Value, nor could Its Children receive it. You were freed the instant you dreamed you had deserted the Divine. Everything you made in the detour into fear has never been, and is actually invisible because the Holy Spirit does not see it. Yet what It does see is yours to behold, and through Its Vision your perception is healed. You have made as the visible or self-evident “facts” of this world what is actually invisible because it has no reality and is not there. Valuing nothing, you have sought it and believed you found it. By making nothingness real to yourself, you have looked upon it. But it is not there. And Divine Essence has become invisible to you because of what you believe you have made visible instead.

Yet it does not matter how much distance you have tried to interpose between your awareness and Truth. The Divine’s Children can be seen and thus can learn to see, because their vision is shared. The Holy Spirit beholds these Children, and sees nothing else in you. What is yet invisible to you is perfect in Spirit’s Sight, and encompasses all of It. Spirit has remembered you because It did not forget the Creator.

You looked upon the unreal and found despair. But by seeking the unreal, what else could you find? The unreal world is a thing of despair, for it can never be. And you who share the Divine’s Being with It could never be content without Reality.

What the Divine did not give you has no power over you, and the Attraction of Love for Love remains irresistible. For it is the Function of Love to unite all things unto Itself, and to hold all things together by extending Its Wholeness. The Real World was given you by the Divine in loving exchange for the world you made and that you look upon. Simply receive the Real World from the Hand of Divine Essence, and behold it. Its reality will make everything else invisible, for beholding it is total perception. And as you behold it you will remember that it was always so. Nothingness will become invisible, for you will at last have perceived truly.

Redeemed perception is easily translated into Knowledge, for only perception is capable of error. And perception has never been in Reality. Being corrected, it gives place to Knowledge, which is forever the only Reality. The Atonement is just the way back to what was never lost. Your Creator could not ever cease to love Its Children.
