Daily Lesson 333 ~
November 29

Forgiveness ends the dream of conflict here.

What is the ego?

Conflict must be resolved. To resolve it, it cannot be evaded, set aside, denied, disguised, looked upon somewhere else, called by another name, or hidden by deceit of any kind. It must be seen exactly as it is, where it is thought to be, in the reality that has been given it, and with the purpose that the mind accorded it. For only then are its defenses lifted, and the Truth can shine upon it as it disappears.

Creator, forgiveness is the Light You chose to shine away all conflict and all doubt, and light the Way for our Return to You. Only this Light can end our dreams of darkness and of evil. Only this Light can awaken the world. For this alone will always succeed, being Your Gift to Your beloved Children.

Chapter 3: How Is Healing Accomplished?

3. The Function of the Teacher of the Divine in the Healing Process

If the patient must change their mind in order to be healed, what does the Teacher of the Divine have to do with the process? Can they change the patient’s mind for them? Certainly not. For those patients already willing to change their mind about the meaning of sickness, the teacher has no function except to rejoice with them, for these patients in their healing have become Teachers of the Divine with them.

The teacher has, however, a more specific function for those who do not yet understand what true healing is. These patients do not realize that they have chosen sickness. On the contrary, they believe that sickness has chosen them. Nor are they open-minded on this point. They believe that the body tells them what to do, and they obey. They have no idea how insane this concept is. If they even suspected it, they would be healed. Yet they suspect nothing. To them the dream of the separation is quite real.

To them the Teacher of the Divine comes to represent another choice that the patient has forgotten. The simple presence of a Teacher of the Divine is a reminder. The teacher’s clarity about sickness offers the patient the opportunity in their own mind to question what they have accepted as true. As the Divine’s Messengers, Its Teachers are the symbols of awakening. They ask the patient for forgiveness for the Divine and Its Children in the Divine’s Own Name. They stand for the Alternative. With the Divine’s Word of Truth and Love in their minds they come with blessing, not to heal the sick but to remind them of the Remedy the Divine has already given them. It is not the hands of the teachers that heal. It is not their voice that speaks the Word of the Divine. They merely give what has been given them. Very gently they call to their sisters and brothers to turn away from the belief in sickness and death:

Behold, you Child of the Divine, what Life can offer you. Would you choose sickness in place of this?

The Teachers of the Divine who have advanced in their own learning never consider the forms of sickness in which their sisters and brothers believe, which would entail belief in levels and orders of magnitude of difficulty in healing. To do this is to forget that all forms of sickness have the same purpose and therefore are not really different. The Divine’s Teachers seek for Its Voice in their brother or sister who would so deceive themself as to believe that the Divine’s Children can suffer sickness in any form. They remind their sisters and brothers that they did not create themselves, and that they must remain as the Divine created them, perfectly whole and healthy apart from the projection of any appearances to the contrary that their body may temporarily be bearing. They recognize for their sisters and brothers that illusions can have no real effects.

The Truth in the minds of the Divine’s Teachers reaches out to the Truth in the minds of their sisters and brothers, so that illusions are not reinforced. Illusions are thus brought to the Truth, rather than attempting to bring Truth to illusions by first looking on the malady as real and then to trying to heal it. So are illusions dispelled, not by the will of another, but by the Union of the One Will with Itself. And this is the function of the Divine’s Teachers in the healing process: to see no will as separate from their own will, nor theirs as separate from the Divine’s.
