Chapter 2: Characteristics of the Teachers of the Divine
2. Honesty / Integrity
All other traits of the Divine’s Teachers rest on Trust. Once that has been achieved, the others must follow. Nor need all stages in the development of Trust be complete for the development of the other characteristics to follow.
Only the trusting can be genuinely honest, for only they can see its value. Honesty does not apply only to what is spoken. The term actually means integrity – being integrated in oneself – which leads to true consistency. There is nothing the Teacher of the Divine advanced in their own learning says that contradicts what they think or do. No thought opposes any other thought. No act calls into question their word. And no word lacks agreement with another word. Such are the truly honest. At no level are they in conflict with themselves. Therefore it is impossible for them to be in conflict with anyone or anything. For they have chosen not to join anyone’s dream of conflict.
The peace of mind that the Teachers of the Divine who have advanced in their own learning experience is largely due to their perfect honesty and integrity. It is only the secret wish to deceive that makes for conflict between the Children of the Divine. No one who is integrated and at One with themself can even conceive of conflict. Conflict is the inevitable result of self-deception, and self-deception is dishonesty.
There is nothing difficult or challenging to the Divine’s Teachers. Challenge implies doubt, and the Trust on which the Divine’s Teachers rest secure makes doubt impossible. Therefore they can only succeed. In this as in all things they are honest. They can only succeed because they they choose not to make decisions alone. Their decisions are made with Spirit for all humanity, for all the world and all things in it, for the unchanging and unchangeable beyond appearances, for the Children of the Divine and their Creator. How could they not succeed? They choose with perfect honesty, sure of their choices as they are of themselves.
