In me awakening’s Means and End are one.

What are the Final Evaluation and the Final Judgment?

 

In me, the Divine’s holy Child, are reconciled all Parts of Heaven’s Plan to awaken the world. What could conflict, when all the Parts of this Plan have only one Purpose and one Aim? How could there be a single Part that stands aside, or one of more or less importance than the rest?

I am the Means by which the Divine’s Children are awakened, because awakening’s Purpose is to find the Innocence that the Divine has placed in me and all my sisters and brothers. We were created as the thing we seek. The Innocence in us is the End the world is searching for.

I am among the Divine’s Children, Its one eternal Love. I am awakening’s Means and End as well.

 

My Creator, let me today accept the Role You offer me in Your Request that I accept Atonement for myself. For thus does what is thereby reconciled in me become as surely reconciled to You.

Chapter 1: The Plan of the Teachers

 

2. Who Are the Students of the Divine?

Certain students seeking Truth and awakening have been assigned to work with each Teacher of the Divine, and these students will begin to look for this teacher as soon as the teacher has answered the Call. Students and teachers are assigned together because the specific form of the universal Curriculum of awakening that the teacher teaches and learns is best for the students assigned to them in view of the students’ current level of understanding. The students that have been assigned to work with a given teacher have actually been waiting for this teacher to answer the Call, for the teacher’s coming is certain. Again, it is only a matter of time. Once the teacher has chosen to fulfill their role in awakening, the students are ready to fulfill theirs. Time waits on the teacher’s choice, but not whom they will journey with and serve. When a Teacher of the Divine is ready to learn, the opportunities to teach will be provided for them.

In order to understand the teaching-learning plan of awakening, it is necessary to grasp the concept of time that this Course sets forth. Atonement – the Correction of all errors – corrects illusions, not Truth. Therefore, It corrects what never was. Further, the Plan for this Correction was established and completed simultaneously beyond time, for the Will of the Creator is in Eternity. So is all Reality, being of the Divine. The instant the idea of separation entered the mind of some of the Divine’s Children, in that same instant was the Divine’s Answer given and received. In the context of time, this need and its Fulfillment happened very long ago. In Reality it never happened at all.

The world of time is the world of illusion. What happened long ago seems to be happening now. Choices made long since appear to be open and waiting to be made. What has been learned and understood and long ago passed by is perceived as a new thought, a fresh idea, a different approach. Because your will is free you can accept what has already happened to heal the separation at any time you choose, and only then will you realize that it was always there. As this Course emphasizes, you are not free to determine awakening’s Curriculum, or even the form in which you will learn It. You are free, however, to decide when you want to learn It. And as you accept awakening’s Curriculum, It is already learned.

Time, then, really goes backward to an instant so ancient that it is beyond all memory, and past even the possibility of remembering. Yet because it is an instant that is relived again and again and still again, it seems to be now. And thus it is that student and teacher seem to come together in the present, finding each other as if they had not met before. The student comes at the right time to the right place. This is inevitable, because they made the right choice in that ancient instant, which they now relive. The teacher, too, made an inevitable choice out of an ancient past. The Creator’s Will in everything only seems to take time in the working out. What could delay the Power of Eternity?

When student and teacher both seeking Truth come together, a teaching-learning situation toward awakening begins. For the teacher is not really the one who does the teaching. The Divine’s appointed Teacher – the Holy Spirit – speaks to any who join together for the Purpose of learning awakening. Their relationship is holy because of that Purpose, and the Divine has promised to send Its Spirit into any holy relationship.

In the awakening teaching-learning situation, each one learns that giving and receiving are the same. The demarcations they have drawn between their roles, their minds, their bodies, their needs, their interests, and all the differences they thought separated them from one another, fade and grow dim and disappear. Those who would learn the same course in awakening share one Interest and one Goal. And thus the one who was the student becomes themself a Teacher of the Divine, for they have made the one decision that gave their teacher to them. They have seen in another person the same Interest as their own.
