Principle of Miracles 35
Miracles are the way in which minds that are guided by Spirit unite with Divine Essence for the awakening or Release of all the Divine’s Children.
Commentary
Although miracles are expressions of Love, they may not always have observable effects because the range of what you are able to perceive is still quite limited. This current limit is because, as mentioned previously, the split mind can be “possessed” by or preoccupied with illusions.
It is impossible to “mock” or fool the Divine under any circumstances. Possession in its negative sense, which seems to happen to a person, is very closely related to mis-projection, which comes from a person. The well-known figure “Lucifer,” whose name can be translated as “Light Bearer,” literally projected or cast himself from Heaven. To this day mis-projection still has this “hurling” connotation, because it involves casting away from yourself something you do not want and that you regard as dangerous and frightening, on to someone or something else. This is the opposite of the “Golden Rule” that counsels you to act toward others as you would have them act toward you, and having placed this rule upside down, the reverse of miracles, or mis-projection, follows automatically.
The correction of mis-projection, and of the misconception that appropriate projection as extending the Divine means possession in the negative sense, rests in accepting what is true in yourself, by bringing all that you are into Light, remembering that there is nothing you would want to hide or cast away even if you could.
Because miracles are expressions of Love doesn’t mean that they will always be effective. Their effectiveness depends on whether superconscious control has been allowed to direct the miracles by those assisting them. One of the major problems with miracle workers in this regard is that they are so sure that what they are doing is right, because they know it stems from Love, that they do not pause long enough before working a miracle to turn to Divine Essence and me and allow us to use their miracle readiness where it is most needed in any given situation. In their passion to heal they can forget that Divine Essence and I are the only ones who can perform miracles indiscriminately, that is, without asking for guidance on where a miracle is most needed. This is because Divine Essence is the Atonement already complete in Eternity, and I am the Atonement as it is being completed in time. This means that I am One with Divine Essence and Its Atonement, that I therefore know everyone’s part in It, and have been given all Power in Heaven and Earth to help all my sisters and brothers complete their parts in It so the Divine Family can be Whole again.
Because I have completed my part in the Atonement I do not need miracles for my awakening, being already awake. Because you have not yet completed your part, you do. You have an essential role in the Atonement, which I am guiding you into.
The American psychic Edgar Cayce was mistaken in thinking that possession came from outside a person, and his belief about hurting himself was based on a misunderstanding. But his life dedicated as a miracle worker was truly inspired by Spirit and by me. Yet he was not able to be brought to ask me in every situation whether I wanted him to perform a particular miracle. If he had, he would not have performed any miracles that were not effective, and would thus have saved himself unnecessary strain. He exhausted himself performing miracles indiscriminately, and to this extent did not fulfill his own purpose fully. My disciples of old were also prone to this problem. Forgetting to ask for guidance happens all the time until the habit of asking becomes reflexive, automatic, and therefore in this sense involuntary.
The reflexive nature of miracles was discussed previously. The fact has also been established that everything involuntary belongs under superconscious control, not under your very limited conscious control. Superconsciously-controlled miracles are interpersonal for those touched by them and, because they collapse time, lead all involved to more quickly fulfill their parts in the Atonement. The impersonal nature of miracles as far as those assisting them is an essential element because this enables me to control their distribution as I see will be most beneficial for all involved. Under superconscious or Divine Essence control, miracles replenish the miracle assister as well as the receiver. The solution is to always ask me first, before performing a miracle you feel an inspiration or an impulse to perform, if you should perform that miracle. This spares you from strain and exhaustion, and because you will be acting through direct communication with me, the dullness of consciousness due to forgetting to ask will become meaningless.
Possession in its negative sense really means “not under superconscious or Divine Essence control,” thus making the mind vulnerable to mis-projection. References to earth-bound powers entering bodies really refer to a person being “taken over” by their own illusory thoughts and then projecting this onto something apparently outside themself. This is the meaning of the frightening idea of “demon possession,” which loses its fearful aspect when understood correctly. After all, in the legend the figure of Lucifer fell but he remained a Child of the Divine. He is thus a symbol for those who dream and are currently experiencing themselves in a separated state.
Atonement is the Knowledge that the belief that angels or any Children of the Divine can actually fall from the Divine’s Grace is false. It is true that the mind, as well as being capable of becoming skilled in allowing miracles to be performed through it, can be filled or possessed with illusions and then mis-project, but it’s not true that such mis-projections are real. This is what is meant by “The Truth shall set you free.”
In contrast to the impersonal control of miracles by me in Union with Divine Essence, needed to benefit all they touch near and far in space and throughout time, the guidance from me in Union with Spirit in your thoughts and with all your creative activity is personal and leads to personal awakening. This guidance also leads to the highly personal experience of revelation from Spirit. This is why this guidance involves the personal choice or invitation of the miracle worker. A guide does not control, by definition, but does direct, leaving the act of following up to those being guided. In this regard the beloved phrase, “Lead us not into temptation,” means “guide us out of our own errors.” Note that the verb is “lead,” not command or order. This understanding becomes more poignant in the context of Lucifer as the symbol of the separated ones, and specifically their illusory or “earth-bound” thoughts, rather than as a symbol of a demonic entity.
In this same context, the well-known phrase attributed to me, “Take up your cross and follow me,” should be interpreted as, “recognize your errors and choose to abandon them by following my guidance.” When you are afraid of a frightening idea like demon possession, you need only remember that error cannot really threaten Truth, which can always withstand error’s assaults. Only the error of giving misthought any power is really vulnerable (i.e., “vulnerable” to correction). If you will remember that all Children of the Divine inherit their Power from their Creator, the right choice to abandon your errors becomes inevitable. This may be remembered in the following progression:
The true mind is in a State of Grace forever.
The human being’s Reality is only their true mind.
Therefore, the human being is in a State of Grace forever.
Atonement undoes all errors in this respect, and thus uproots and undoes the actual source of fear.
Whenever the Divine’s Reassurances are experienced as a threat, it is always because a person is defending their misplaced and misdirected love and loyalty. That is what mis-projection always involves.
“Casting spells” in the frightening sense of enchantment magic merely means “affirming error,” and error is lack of Love. A lack of Love projected onto others may seem to impair them, but only to the extent that it reinforces errors of mind they have already made. This distortion makes them vulnerable to such “curses,” or harmfully-intended mis-projections, of others, since they have already weakened themselves by their fear thoughts. The miracle worker can only bring blessing to such situations of fear, and this undoes all mis-projections, possessions of the mind by illusions, and spells or curses, through freeing the mind from the self-impairment of fear.
Fear becomes impossible when you remember that you are wholly lovely, a perfect Ray of pure Light. Before your Loveliness the stars smile with gratitude, and true Creation awaits the Power of your will joined with your Creator.
