The idea for today is another step toward learning that the thoughts that give rise to what you perceive are never neutral or unimportant. It also emphasizes the idea that minds are joined, a thought that will be given increasing importance as we progress.
Today’s idea does not refer to what you perceive as much as to how you perceive it. Therefore, the exercises for today will emphasize this aspect of your perception. Glancing about you for a minute or so or even less, randomly select subjects for the application of the idea. Look at each one long enough to say:
“I am joined by others in experiencing the effects of how I perceive _____.”
Conclude the practice period by repeating the more general statement:
“I am joined by others in experiencing the effects of my perceiving.”
Three or four practice periods are recommended for today’s idea.
Today’s idea may be applied during the day to remind yourself of the importance of your perceptions because you are joined in experiencing them.
